From Old to New, Sport Jersey to Tote Bag

Posted by Audrey Querns at Feb 15, 2011 06:20 AM |

Kids collect so many t-shirts and jerseys from their activities and sports. They wear them for a few months, then outgrow them or move on to the next sport. Save one or two special shirts by turning them into tote bags that you or your kids can continue to use.

The old T-shirt Jersey

Time needed:  About 15 minutes

Supplies: sport jersey or t-shirt, sewing supplies (needle and thread or sewing machine), nylon webbing or other fabric for handles

Idea and instructions: Replayground.com

I used this idea and super-easy instructions from Replayground for my son’s 7th birthday party which had a “Bring Your Own Trash” theme.  Kids brought their own t-shirts and an adult helped each kid sew his shirt into their own goody bags.  Kids also made wallets from cardboard boxes and ball catchers out of old plastic milk and juice cartons. Instructions for these are also from Replayground.
