CoolMom Neighborhood Groups Forming
Watch out Seattle! Moms concerned about the impact global warming will
have on their children's future are uniting, forming groups and making
changes.  Be it through working with the city to encourage kids to
walk to school, hosting environmental-themed parties and kid-friendly
events, establishing toy swaps, encouraging moms to buy locally grown
organic food or opting for fuel free family days ... these moms are
making a difference! Join them!

Congratulations to the Magnolia CoolMoms group!  They have won a
Seattle climate protection grant from the Department of Neighborhoods.
This grant will promote the Walking School Bus programs at 2 Magnolia
schools!

CoolMom neighborhood leader Carrie Barnes is coordinating a talk and
discussion on climate change moderated by Beverly Duperly Boos,
District Manager Northwest for The Climate Project.  This presentation
is based on Nobelist Al Gore's award-winning film "An Inconvenient
Truth", and explores the global indicators of climate change and
solutions at individual and community levels.  Beverly has facilitated
integrated community programs using art and education for seven years,
and is currently working on Shrinking Footprints, a program designed
to help organizations and communities take action in the areas of
lifestyle, community development and public policy.
