CoolMom receives $60K
Think Outside the Car is a great opportunity to build community in West Seattle, inspire change, and promote healthy transportation habits. Through community engagement the project will help businesses and schools adopt no-idling practices, walking school buses and bike to school programs to improve air quality, save people money, and reduce carbon pollution.
Our West Seattle CoolMom group has already started working on putting this project into action. The Steering Committee, made up of West Seattle CoolMom members, interested citizens, youth, and Sustainable West Seattle members, have begun formulating action items and timelines for completing the work.
We Need You-Volunteer.
One of the many action items on the Steering Committee's list is to engage the community of West Seattle to help implement Think Outside the Car.
Here is a list of volunteering opportunities:
- Phone calls to West Seattle businesses
- Help spearhead or volunteer their time to help foster Walking School Buses, bike programs and No-Idle campaigns at Gatewood, Pathfinder, Roxhill Elementary, Arbor Heights and West Side schools
- Help plan, organize, and table for an October kick off event and future kick off events in West Seattle
Information about volunteering and specific details can be found by contacting Terri Glaberson, CoolMom Director, 206-280-2828 or terri@coolmom.org
